Oxygen Hoods

Controlled Environment Chamber for Administering Accurate, Consistent Oxygen Concentration to Infants

It is normally used with a heated  nebulizer/humidifier  to maintain adequate humidity and temperature. Oxygen concentration is controlled by adjusting rate of flow. High oxygen concentration can be quickly obtained using hoods. Tests show that O2 concentrations over 97% are achieved in 4 minutes with hood in  a  40%  oxygen environment.

No seal or plastic film around the infant’s neck is necessary to maintain high O2 concentrations.

GINEVRI’s hood comes in different sizes. Neck opening fits close enough to retain O2 concentrations, yet leaving sufficient  space around the infants neck to permit  CO2 displacement  and provide a safety factor in case of oxygen delivery system failure.

Lift –off top permits instant access to infant’s  head  with minimum disruption of oxygen environment. Convenient angled inlet is tapered to accept all large-bore tubing. The outlet prevents O2  blowing directly on the baby. Hood’s round shape takes minimal space in the incubator.  It is made of clear plastic do the infant is fully visible at all Times. It is available , however, in square shape.

The smallest round hood is provided with extension sections without lids, in order to maintain  high oxygen concentrations. It is necessary the use of extension under radiant heaters or when it occurs a continuous access to baby’s head. The hoods are easily cleaned and disinfected  with detergents for plastic commonly in use.

Hoods can be normally used with  GINEVRI  Heated Humidifier, when connected to GINEVRI Air /Oxygen  Mixer or to any flowmeter.
